The Folnet Controller introduces a powerful concept in the operation of Fibre Optic Links (FOL’s) as part of an EMC or EMP test configuration. It allows the user to control up to five Fibre Optic Link (FOL) Modules using one controller, yielding both cost and space savings. All five channels may be operated simultaneously to allow parallel acquisition of the data.

We supply a comprehensive range of FOL’s for the transmission of data which are compatible with the Folnet Controller. They cover a wide spectrum of shielded analogue and digital transmission applications, and their performance is described in separate data sheets.

On the Five channel 19” Rack unit, the channel to be controlled is selected via the numeric keypad and arrow keys. Additional FOL’s can be added to the system configuration to meet the users’ changing needs by removing the blanking plates provided. This provides an element of future proofing, as the user can keep up to date with the continual advances in FOL technology with minimal capital expenditure. The addition of a new module is automatically recognised by the Folnet Controller on power up.

The Folnet Controller keypad provides the user with comprehensive control functions. Depending on the type of FOL installed and selected, it can be used to turn the Remote Module on and off, initialise calibration routines, select attenuators, integrators, buffers and pre-amplifiers and much more.

The system may also be controlled via the RS232 or IEEE computer interfaces which are supplied as standard. The system software is flexible and powerful, ensuring that interfacing to the host computer is straightforward to implement.
